(Bill W) March 25, 2009 – Sprint Cup stars and teammates Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman are the latest entries in the 6th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals presented by SuperClean. The event will be held October 1-3, 2009, and will pay out over a quarter of a million dollars in prize money, including $40,000 to the winner!

This will be Tony’s third attempt at the ultimate prize in arguably the biggest late model event in the Midwest. He finished second in 2006, and led seven laps in the 2008 rendition, before eventually coming back through the field after problems and finishing ninth.

Newman is Stewart’s teammate and driver of the Stewart-Haas Racing #39 in the Sprint Cup Series. Ryan competed in the 2007 Late Model Nationals, and in open wheel action, set quick time here at the 2000 Hawkeye 100 for the USAC Silver Crown cars.

Thirty-three entries have already been accepted, and include former race winners, Scott Bloomquist, Brian Shirley and Brady Smith.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals presented by SuperClean, now in the 6th year, includes 66 of the top Late Model Drivers in the Nation competing in the three day event. Featuring a full program each night of racing, drivers will qualify on Thursday and may race again on Friday to improve their standings for the main show on Saturday, October 3.
