Blake returns to Knoxville after an absence of over ten years. He's a three-time 410 winner at Knoxville, having scored a win in 2001 and two in 2002, all with different owners. The last came in the Beaver Drill & Tool car, and he'll return in the 12x in 2023, driving for Bill Vielhauer.

Blake followed his father Dave, a top sprint car driver in Illinois himself. Blake began in quarter midgets at age ten. He moved onto mini-sprints, and was crowned champion in 1998. In 2000, his sprint car wins included three with the IRA. He also won with the All Stars at Eldora in 2002.

Between 2003 and 2011, Blake competed of and on in three NASCAR series, ARCA (two wins), the Truck Series and the Busch Series.
